[Partner Content] The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020 unveils 51–100 list

Precisely one week before the announcement of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020, 50 Best has revealed the bars voted onto the extended 51–100 list, presented in association with Mancino Vermouth. It comes after extensive consultation with the bar sector, where the 50 Best organisation received widespread support for releasing a ranking that aims to bring the community even closer together and provide positive news for bars as they enter the next stage of recovery from the global pandemic.

Mark Sansom, Content Editor for The World’s 50 Best Bars, says: “The evolution of the 51–100 list, which sees 26 new entries this edition, reflects the pace of progress in the global cocktail industry. Despite relentless challenges this year, these bars have emerged with inspiring resilience, with many advancing in their recovery process. As guests look to start planning their next bar experiences, we hope that this extended list will be a source of inspiration to get people talking about returning to great cocktail bars as soon as they can. We also hope it will become a source of optimism for bars around the world, as they continue to strive to deliver safe, secure and enjoyable hospitality experiences in the face of ever-changing restrictions.”

The US leads the 51–100 list with seven bars. New entry Cafe La Trova in Miami placed ahead of the pack at No.70, while three other new-entry bars on the list this year, including San Francisco’s Pacific Cocktail Haven at No.74, Chicago’s Kumiko at No.82 and New York’s Death & Co at No.89.

Singapore leads Asia with five out of 16 bars on the list. No Sleep Club at No.53 is the highest-ranked Asian bar in the list, while China has three venues, including one new entry, which is The Wise King at No.83. Taiwan sees three new entries from Taipei: AHA Saloon at No.56; Bar Mood Taipei at No.81; and Draft Land at No.93. Other bars from Asia include two new entries from Thailand: Bangkok’s Vesper at No.62 and Rabbit Hole at No.76.

From India, New Delhi’s Sidecar is also a new entry at No.91, and of the two bars from Japan, Tokyo’s Gen Yamamoto breaks into the list for the first time at No.95.

UK tops Europe with four bars in London, led by Scout at No.51 and followed by Scarfes Bar at No.54, Donovan Bar at No.63 and Happiness Forgets at No.78. France has two Parisian bars on the list – Danico at No.55 and Le Syndicat at No.79 – while Italy has two new entries, including Rome’s Freni e Frizioni at No.87 and Milan’s Officina Milano at No.90. Cyprus’ Lost & Found in Nicosia comes in at No.97.

South and Central America are represented by five bars, with the highest placing at No.59 by Hanky Panky in Mexico City. New entries include Baltra Bar from Mexico City at No.72 and Tres Monos from Buenos Aires, Argentina at No.85.

Melbourne leads the way in Australasia, with four bars in the 51–100 ranking, three of which are new entries, led by The Everleigh at No.73. South Africa also has a strong showing, with three bars making the list from Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Giancarlo Mancino, founder of Mancino Vermouth, says: “Mancino Vermouth has always been very close to the hospitality community; we are a brand created by a bartender and incorporate all aspects of modern drinking culture together with a timeless vibe. This year, Mancino Vermouth has partnered with The World’s 50 Best Bars 51-100 list to show our admiration and respect for all the new entries and amazing bars that haven’t quite made The World’s 50 Best Bars final list this year. Because for us – especially during this difficult period for the hospitality industry – every single bar is a winner.”

The announcement of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020, sponsored by Perrier, follows on from the work of the 50 Best for Recovery programme, which has to date raised USD1.25m for hospitality venues across the globe.

The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020, sponsored by Perrier, will be unveiled in a digital countdown on 5th November, beginning at 3pm UK time. Bars and cocktail lovers are invited to join the virtual ceremony on The World’s 50 Best Bars Facebook page and 50 Best Bars TV YouTube channel.
