Orphanage Cocktail Emporium

18th July is Mandela Day, where – in memory of their beloved late former president, on his birthday – South Africans dedicate 67 minutes of their time towards making the world a better place.

This year, Orphanage Cocktail Emporium intends to set a South African record for the most amount of cocktails made in 67 minutes. The cause? To raise funds for industry legend Brent Perremore, who has been struck down by the rare and debilitating Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

Participating bartenders will tag in – two at a time – to race against the clock, while brands will donate stock for the event to ensure maximum returns on the cocktails.

And you? You can support the endeavour (and have a massive joll) by coming along and buying a minimum of four tokens, which you can exchange for cocktails. Tokens will cost R40 each, and the menu entails Daiquiris, Gimlets and Margaritas.

It’s also Kyle Williamson’s birthday, so there’s yet another reason to come.
